After a thorough search and interview process involving many qualified candidates, I am pleased to announce that Ms. Kerry Hartfield will be joining SCS as our new 5th grade teacher beginning Monday, January 12, 2026. 

Ms. Hartfield is certified in North Carolina and holds two degrees: a Master of Science in School Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a concentration in English. She recently relocated to North Carolina from New Jersey, where she previously taught at Holy Cross Academy in Rumson. As a practicing Catholic, Ms. Hartfield has experience teaching religion and is excited to share her love of faith with our students. 

She is passionate about helping students build confidence in their reading, writing, and public speaking skills, and she also brings a strong background in mathematics instruction, supporting students in achieving mastery and academic growth. 

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Ms. Farrar, who has stepped in as lead teacher since September. Along with Ms. Rehm, she has done an outstanding job keeping our students on track academically during this transition period. Ms. Farrar will continue in her role as Teacher Assistant, and Ms. Rehm will transition to assisting in middle school. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication, flexibility, and tireless efforts on behalf of our students and school community. 

Please join me in thanking Ms. Farrar and Ms. Rehm for their exceptional service and in warmly welcoming Ms. Hartfield to SCS. Thank you to our 5th grade parents for supporting our students and teachers.
