Clearing the ID/Password saved on your browser

Updated on Mar 29, 2023 01:36 PM by Schoolspeak, Support003
Many browsers try to help people by automatically completing information in fields when a person is completing a form. This is helpful when a person is creating a quick order or completing mailing information.

Sometimes browsers attempt to auto-fill information when a SchoolSpeak Admin is adding a new member or a new student. In particular, the browser may add the admin's ID and Password into the new member's ID and password fields on the form. The result - an error is displayed that the user already exists. And it is correct - your ID does already exist! This can be frustrating because it also means that you cannot add the new person using your ID and Password.

One way to prevent the browser from automatically entering the ID and password is to clear your admin ID and password information from the memory of the browser. Here is some information that may be helpful.

Google Chrome
1. Click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner
2. Click More tools...Clear Browsing Data
3. Choose the Advanced  tab
4. Locate the clear ID/password and auto fill information**** But note that it may remove all of your saved data so make sure you have noted your other IDs/Passwords saved because this will remove them!
5. You may now log in and continue to use SchoolSpeak but if the browser asks you if you would like to save the ID and Password - say no for now.

Microsoft Edge
1. Go to settings
2. Choose privacy option
3. Choose the items that you would like to delete. But don't forget if you delete ID/PW's you may want  lose ID/PW's for other applications in this process.
